Development Team
Description
This program is designed as a foundational soccer “team”. It is geared towards players ready to join their first soccer team and if desired can function as a great introduction to competitive soccer. Players will develop individually and collectively within a positive, supportive and challenging learning environment.
The “team” consists of a maximum of 12 players that will practice and play small-sided games (4v4) together. The curriculum is specifically designed to meet the developmental needs and goals of the players. Sessions will include speed & agility exercises, technical ball mastery and application of soccer skills through fun and creative games. Players will also be divided into 2 teams each week and compete in a 40 minute small-sided game (20 minute halves with a 5 minute half-time). Coaches will act as the referee and teach the basic principles of the game. Players will be encouraged to make autonomous decisions and most importantly, HAVE FUN.

Philosophy
Houston Soccer School is founded on the purpose to use soccer as a platform to invest in and positively impact the next generation. We believe in the power of sports to open hearts and when children’s hearts are opened, they can truly learn, develop, engage, connect, and be filled with purpose. Our aim is for all players to have fun and develop. We take a holistic approach (developing psychosocial, cognitive & motor skills) and invest in every player on and off the field. Areas of focus in an HSS session include: balance/coordination, speed & agility exercises, experiential learning through fun games and game-like activities, technical ball mastery and most importantly mentorship.
